Database Update Fixed

The last few days there was a problem that only a few trailers would show up. The problem is fixed now and the next update should give you the normal experience again.

  1. installed this the first time yesterday but can’t make it work. The only trailer I see is ‘9′, with a scroll text stating ‘please update appletrailerfs…’
Any ideas, info (eg ports to open etc) ?
    many thanks i.a.

  7. Hmm, no idea. Which trailer is it specifically? 1080p, 720p? Trailer or teaser?

  8. hi,

i’m new to this wdtv hacks… i just installed/flashed latest WDLXTV, connected my usb-network-adapter and got an IP. then i deleted all the files on the usb stick and copied your apps on this stick. i plugged the stick with appletrailerfs into the wdtv and restarted. but nothing happens. i just loads into the wdtv menu. so where is your app? i think i’m missing something… do i have to copy your appletrailerfs app pack together with WDLXTV onto the stick and reboot the wdtv? is there any faq or step by step guide where i can read how to run apps like this on my wdtv?

thank you very much for your help or any hint you can provide.

  11. Hi,

I have appletrailerfs-0.3.3.1-beta-wdtv with WDLXTV 0.5.8.1 on the same usb stick. I flashed the firmware fine. When I went to the “Apple Trailers” folder, I got “the folder is empty” message. Can you please help?

    Thanks

  12. It seems that every trailer that comes with Dolby Digital has no sound when played. Strange…

    Comment by Chris — December 8, 2009 @ 14:52

  13. Can also confirm that all trailers with Dolby Digital sound play in silence. I have an Onkyo 606 amp that connected thru hdmi and its played every sound format i’ve thrown at it except these Apple trailers. Switching the output on the WDTV to stereo will play the files in Pro Logic but thats a ball ache and not ideal.

  14. hi there,
awesome addition for the WD TV. sadly, as I just read here, the WD TV LIVE, which I own, does not seem to be supported. Hopefully this will be supported soon. I’d even donate so you can afford you “test equipment” ;)

    Cheers!

  15. Hi, I am also interested in this app for the WD Live TV. Let us know when it ready :)

    Thanks
    Krass

PS. How can I contact you concerning a side project

  16. @Lars
Thanks, but it’s not an issue of money, it’s an issue of time. I’m currently involved in university stuff. There is probably a project coming up soon where I’ll be spending my evenings in a hotel, there I should have time again for WDTV things.

  19. Still having the problem with tailers with Dolby Digital… Using an Onkyo receiver, too, but I just can’t get these trailer with sound, so I have to watch the “large” trailers without Dolby Digital. Any idea how to resolve this problem?

    Cheers,
    Chris

  20. Sorry, no idea regarding the Dolby Digital issue. I’m using the integrated decoder of the WDTV via HDMI and that works like a charm with the trailes. Since I doubt the receiver has a problem with the decoding, it’s probably the combination mov file + DD (mov is the format for Apple Trailers). There were some combinations that the WDTV did not support to forward correctly via the digital audio output.

  21. I’ll try using the HDMI output for audio and give you feedback.

  22. Dear Elmar,
i really really love your Apple-Trailer-Plugin for the WDTV.
It’s exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately I own a WDTV Live.
How much do I have to donate, to get this thing working on the WDTV Live??? :-)

  23. Any news about the Live version?

    Comment by Mihaii — January 26, 2010 @ 17:08

  24. Hi Elmar,

I am desperately waiting for a WDLXTV-Live version of the appletrailerfs! Watching the Apple trailers was my main intention to buy that stuff. Unfortunately I made a last minute change on my decision and ordered the WDTV with network support, not aware, that this WDTV is not supported by your app. Is there anything we (your appletrailerfs community) can do to make you this app working on the WDTV-Live?
I have seen a lot of posts but very rare feedback on it…
If it is a lack of financial resources pleeeease state – how the community can help!

    Greets, Markus

  25. Hi Markus,

as already mentioned, it’s not a lack of financial resources (in fact if I had less financial resources, i.e. work, I’d have finished this already =). If you want to donate money spend it for Haiti or something, but there won’t be a new version any faster because of it =)

In general it should be relatively easy to port appletrailerfs to the WDTV Live. Anyone who knows how to compile stuff and create application images should be able to do it. Ask in the WDTV Forum, there are a lot of bright people who are able (but are pressed for time as well I guess).

Currently I’d say mid to end February until I have time, given the current project lifts off, I’ll be in Hotels in the evening, thus have a lot of time on my hand without access to any of the stuff that currently distracts me.

    ciao,
    elm
